The Story of Sunbutter

Part III: The New Home

Here's the POOP!

(21k)When the lady from the Greyhound Foundation picked me up from the pound I figured we were going to some kind of cage, and I figured I could handle that. After all as a greyhound moved from track to track I've been to a lot of cages. But no she took me right to her house, and boy there were two beautiful greyhound bitches. However there was one old greyhound dog that said keep your distance. What I didn't know was who this old guy was. Happy, the spokesdog for the Greyhound Foundation. Something else I didn't know was he was dying of kidney failure. That was why he was so grumpy and didn't want to play much. Well after a while we all settled in pretty well together, but I could see now how sick he was. He spent most of his time asleep by his master Mr. Greyhound. They call him Ferd. So I wasn't surprised when Happy went on to Rainbow Bridge. That's a place where pets go when they die. But that's another story. It was sad around there let me tell you. It was worse than George Jones, "He stopped loving her today". I tried to cheer everybody up and I think it worked. I got lots of pats. Greylady, they call her Beverly, said I would have to take Happy's place and be the spokesdog. As you can tell I have no trouble talking, but the responsibility is something else. I mean I'm a drifter ... a lone wolf ... a prowling pooch. If everyone hadn't been so nice to me I'd have probably shagged out of there. That and the fact that the little fawn is starting to make eyes at me.

Here's the SCOOP!

So ... I'm now spokesdog for the Greyhound Foundation, and my job is to tell everyone about greyhounds. What their like, how we love kids, how handsome we are and most important to help raise money, I relate that to food. It takes a lot of that to save my friends. So if you can spare a dollar or two, send it to the Greyhound Foundation.

"A friend is a terrible thing to lose!"
That's a slogan ... spokesdogs got to remember things like that!
