Prancer

My name is Prancer. I've been shot, chased, hated and abandoned! I've run and run, till I can't run any more. I'm an 11 year old senior retired racer. No one knows where I came from but me and since I can't talk "human", I have a hard time telling them. My prayers have finally been answered! I've been through a really rough time in my life and I've prayed that someone would come along and save me. And then one day when I had just about given up hope, I was rescued!

I ended up in a kind family's yard. Pam and Bob, who took me in, and called The National Greyhound Foundation and Grannie Bev. The next thing I knew, I was in a Hospital and the vet did some yucky things to me.

They told me I was a really sick Greyhound. Heck, I could have told them that! I had really, really bad hookworms, and tested positive for heartworms. That's why I can't run too hard anymore, they're just slowly killing me. Crawly worms in my body! OH NO! That's not too good, let me tell you.

They gave me medicine and Auntie Sue took me to her house where I met all the other foster dogs waiting for their forever homes.

Boy, was I hungry when I woke up. Auntie Sue gave me a really good dinner, which I ate every bit of it! The best meal I've had in a long time! And I get to eat every day, as much as I want! This is like Heaven!!! It's amazing how a week of good food, rest, and love, oh yeah, the medicines ... have made me feel so much better. I have my own crate, and get to sleep as much as I want. Healing is hard work. I have very soft blankets for these old bones to lay on. I have some sore elbows from sleeping on concrete before. Believe me, soft blankets are very nice!!!

Living with Auntie Sue, all of us "fosters" are waiting for our new forever homes and our new Moms and Dads. I don't know if anyone will want to adopt an old (I'll be 11 yrs. in December) Greyhound like me, especially since I'm a special needs Greyhound, but I sure hope so. I have SO MUCH love to give someone.

We Seniors are very special Greyhounds, and have so much love to give to very special people who have a special place in their hearts for someone like us that have been dealt such a bad hand until now. I don't know where my future will be, but I'm grateful for where I am now. Thank you Pam and Bob, Grannie Bev, Auntie Sue, Uncle Ken, and the vets who took care of me.

If you'd like to help me pay some of my bills, I'd appreciate it ever so much. And I'll send you pictures and special little notes every month to let you know how I'm getting along.

Thanks.

Your friend,
Prancer
